Hi, thank you for your inquiry. To extinguish and trim our Ellipse Candles, follow these steps for the best results: 1. Extinguishing the Candle: Use a Wick Dipper: The most recommended method for extinguishing a wooden wick is to gently dip it into the melted wax using a wick dipper. This prevents the wick from smoking and preserves its condition. Blowing it Out: If you don&rsquo;t have a wick dipper, you can blow out the flame gently. Avoid blowing too hard, as it may cause the wick to splatter melted wax. Avoid Water: Never use water to extinguish a wooden wick. This could cause the wick to crack or splinter, and the wick may not light properly the next time you use it. 2. Trimming the Wooden Wick: Wait for the Candle to Cool: Let the candle cool completely before trimming the wick to avoid any accidents with hot wax. Trim the Wick Regularly: It&rsquo;s ideal to trim the wick to about 1/8&quot; to 1/4&quot; before lighting the candle again. This helps prevent the wick from producing too much soot or flickering. You can use our wick trimmer to trim the wood wick. Remove Any Charred Bits: If there are any charred pieces on the wick, gently scrape them off with a cloth or your fingers before trimming, ensuring a clean burn.
